Did Facebook do enough to stop Glasgow riots – or was it the community?

There is lots of talk out there, misguided and otherwise about how the, now UK-wide, rioters are using social networks to organise themselves.  Blogger Andrew Girdwood gives us his take on the Glasgow riots and makes some interesting points about the social media blame game. I was pointed at a Facebook group called Glasgow Riot FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST 2011 last night by a horrified colleague.

Gulp stop-animation shot with a Nokia N8

That’s right, this masterpiece was shot entirely using a Nokia N8.  The phone giant tasked Sumo Science of Aardman with creating the world’s largest stop motion animation, the result, entitled “Gulp”, is quite amazing.  Original post from Brendan Mitchell’s blog (recommended read).

Skive creates Facebook campaign around Vauxhall’s footy sponsorship

Vauxhall is backing its Home Nations Football sponsorship with the launch of a new Facebook page that gets fans talking about the beautiful game.

The campaign, developed by digital creative agency Skive features exclusive access to players and footy related content and includes a competition called The Big Pitch which is designed to get football fans talking about their enthusiasm for the game, how they came to love it and what it means to them.
