Simon Cowell using reputation management to bury negative stories: is he really that vain?

Simon Cowell observers will have noticed that internet based stories regarding the UK/US X-Factor judge all seem to be rosey right now.

Reports in the Sun, The Huffington Post and the NY Daily News suggest that Mr Cowell is using SEO to optimise nice stories and a reputation management firm to track and deal with anything negative.

Sound familliar?

Love or hate the high-wasted trouser wearing music svengali isn’t this how brands up their ‘brand-daq’ ?  Nothing wrong with that (especially when you think of it in terms of Cowell the brand).

What is sinsiter is one report that Cowell’s reputation management firm managed to get WordPress to take down a negative blog post from ex Universal and EMI executive, Hans Ebert that referred to Cowell as the Sarah Palin of music.  A fact that Cowell’s ‘people’ vehimently deny.

After a 12 hour hiatus the blog was re-instated.
